Here's what the sky looked like after the rain stopped. Not very promising
for a full day of drag racing, but believe it or not, that's what we got.
Here's some more pics of Bernie Plourd's "new" car... all assembled and
ready to go.... home, since the final qualifying session (scheduled for this
morning) was cancelled due to the weather. "A Day Late... and $800 short" as
he would have qualified as long as he managed to stage the car.
Here's the Mike Cofini car on the jackstands and heading for the staging
lanes for the first round of eliminations.
Then it was time for Duane Shields to haul his "Short Line Express" out
to the lanes.
Two more cars heading for the lanes: on the left, is Rick Santos and the
world champion "Oakwood Homes" car, and on the right, we have Bill Edwards
Jr. with his "Napa Auto Parts" entry.
The seldom seen in the northwest Baca & Strasser injected nitro car,
with David Baca at the wheel rolls out for the first round too.
On the left we see the Henkelman family watching the parade and waiting to
take their place in the last pair, while on the right, crew chief Dana Hopewell
gets to steer the "Henkelmonster" out to the lanes.
Two more views of the awesome (read the results and reports pages to see
why) Henkelman Motorsports A/Fuel Dragster.
Our last set of pics of the first-round lineup, and our last pics of the
day, show the Mike Johnson Racing Blown Alcohol Dragster, with Brian Hough
driving, getting ready for their first round match.
