We promised you something completely different, and they certainly don't come from much further out of left field than this subject: Raymond Beadle and "Waterbed" Fred Miller warming up the famed "Blue Max" AA/Funny Car at the 1976 NHRA Fallnationals at Seattle International Raceway. Especially noteworthy is the absolute lack of support equipment, uniformed crewmen, tractor-trailer tow rig... nothing except a fuel funny car, a guy in a t-shirt and jeans and Beadle behind the butterfly... in a pit area strewn with rocks, gravel, a little bit of tired and tattered grass and a dirty old oil drum in the background. Those were the daze!
PS: Note the neat logo near the bottom of the picture - yes it's from LP himself - and he's promised another contribution or three in the future - bring 'em on Larry
