FUNNY CAR CHAOS Championship Finale - Texas Motorplex

We've got some of the first qualifying session photos worked on, but it's going to take all week... and then some to get through all the photos and dig up all the numbers from two days of awesome racing action at the 2022 FUNNY CAR CHAOS championship finale. We had, for the first time ever, (at least for this website) THREE photographers on hand and our inbox has been plugged full of images for the past two days. And that's just the stuff from Friday's three qualifying sessions! Yes, there's definitely more, much more to come.

Captions and details are going to take a while to fill in, but here's the first session photos from Bob Snyder. They will be followed, and accompanied by shots taken by Dale Fackler and Ginger Snyder. NOTE: FCC only publishes the qualifying results after the second session, so we don't know whether e.t.'s and speeds quoted below are from the first or second session.(We could find out if we subscribed to the \FloRacing.com coverage of the FCC series, but we're spending (much) more than enough on media subscriptions already.

FRIDAY - Qualifying Session #1

Before the first qualifying session got underway, there was a special presentation on the starting line to acknowledge the 2022 FUNNY CAR CHAOS Champion Kirk Williams and the Williams Brothers Racing team for a tremendously successful season of racing.

Mitch King - 'Bone Shaker' --- Vic Tiffin - 'Golddigger' (near lane) vs
Wayne Hofmann - 'China Syndrome' (far lane)

(LEFT) Leading off the first session was occasional NHRA Top Fuel racer Mitch King in his new '67 Chevy "Bone Shaker" entry. His 4.443 - 154.44 was a decent start to his FCC career.

(RIGHT) The first pairing we can show features Vic Tiffin in the Tiffin & Hess "Golddigger" (near lane) facing Wayne Hofmann in his now-familiar Omni-bodied "China Syndrome" (far lane). Neither driver carded a timelsip that would place them in the qualifying field, with Tiffin's 4.615 - 135.26 being slightly better than Hofmann's 5.653 - 80.44 effort.

Matt Nissen - 'Razzle Dazzle' --- Chuck Loftin - 'Motivation'

(LEFT) Up next was Matt Nissen in the "Razzle Dazzle" and he put down a solid 4.335 - 165.04 to provisionally grab a spot in the "D" field.

(RIGHT) Another racer with trouble right out of the box was series regular Chuck Loftin in the Billy Meyer tribute "Motivation" Mustang. His 5.957 - 106.78 left him near the bottom (#37) of the heap.

Jordan Ballew - 'Ballew Thunder' --- Jordan Ballew - 'Ballew Thunder' (near lane) vs
Nick Poloson - 'Bucket List' (far lane)

(LEFT) Seen laying down a hard burnout is Jordan Ballew in the "Ballew Thunder" Camaro.

(RIGHT) Ballew, in the near lane left first on Nick Poloson in the "Bucket List" (far lane), but Poloson turned on the horsepower in the blown fuel car, posting a very quick 3.813 - 194.97 to easily cover Ballew's 4.397 - 162.12 effort.
