TAD National Points Standings - July 19, 2021

The weekend event at National Trail Raceway attracted a small-ish field of just eight Top Alcohol Dragsters, but it did result in some movements in the points standings. Despite an untimely first round exit, Julie Nataas inched closer to the points leader Jackie Fricke (who was idle). The gap is now just three points between the two racers. The biggest move upwards was Jasmine Salinas who won her first NHRA regional event and moved into a tie for sixth place (with James Stevens) as the McPhillip's-tuned "Scrappers Racing" team is definitely making some big steps forward.

Falling out of the Top Ten was Matthew Cummings, who is only running at national events in the McPhillips family owned hot rod, as Rich Jr. moved into the cockpit and took the runner-up spot at Columbus, in the process moving up one spot to #12 in the standings. Also advancing one notch, to #11, was semifinalist Robin Samsel.

TAFC National Points Standings - July 19, 2021

The BIG news in Funny Car was the new Number One, as Sean Bellemeur won the National Trail event over a short five-car field. In the process he moved past the season-long leader, Doug Gordon by ten points. It looks like it's going to be quite a battle for Gordon to retain his 2020 National championship over the two-time champion from 2018 & 2019, Bellemeur. Another big move saw Tony Bogolo jump into the Top Ten in the #9 spot, bumping Dan Pomponio down to #12. The event runnerup, Chip Beverett made the biggest gain as he vaulted all the way from # to #11, just twelve points out of the Top Ten.

This weekend there's a Central Regional event at Topeka's Heartland Raceway Park and we'll have the points updated next Monday following the completion of the event. Then it's on to Pomona the following weekend for the long-delayed Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals as the Western Swing wraps up.
