Route 66 from Chicago to L.A.

It's a cliche that "into each life, a little rain must fall", but when it's a LOT of rain, and it's falling HARD and FAST at 75 mph on a freeway full of white vehicles, it's really no fun at all. That was what faced me all the way from Chicago to St. Louis yesterday. It did stop for a few minutes while I had lunch in Dwight, Illinois, and posed "Big Red" for a picture in front of one of the historic Route 66 filling stations. Today's agenda is simple: down through Missouri, to Oklahoma City, on to Tulsa, and finish in Amarillo. At least the weather forecast is getting better as I head west. Next update this evening from the great state of Texas.
