The Drag Race School Car was featured at the Gold Coast Motor Show at Parklands Exhibition Grounds. The idea that anyone with a road drivers' licence can attend the Drag Race School and drive a fuel injected 8.5 litre 750 kilogram high performance race car captured the imagination of the entire crowd. The Drag Race School car won "Best Competition Car" honours at the exhibition but its real power was shown every time we started the engine in the car; immediately we would be surrounded by hundreds of onlookers. For the promotion of the Drag Race School and its sponsors naturally we exercised this option several times each day. The print ads in the Gold Coast Bulletin and the Brisbane Courier Mail featured the Drag Race School car as one of the draw cards of the show. The Gold Coast Motor Show drew over 12,000 spectators over the two days of the show. Occasionally the crowd was 3 and 4 people deep taking a close look at the Drag Race School car and its sponsors.

The Drag Race School car was demonstrated twice at the Indy Car drag racing exhibition on Friday, October 16th. See the letter from Oberg Motorsports Marketing Services thanking us for our presentation at the Indy Car demonstration. The Drag Race School car and the DRS sponsors were shown to over 48,000 people on the day. The highlights of the demonstration were presented on the Channel 10 late news. There were many dragsters there doing demonstrations but because of the uniqueness of the Drag Race School car it was a major feature of the news spot. This was an excellent promotion for the Drag Race School and its current sponsors.

The publication DRAGSTER Australia is the news "bible" of drag racers in Australia. Issue 504 of Dragster Australia featured nearly a full page on the Drag Race School and its sponsors. (See the story in the first issue of the Harbinger Press). This publication is purchased by every participating drag racer in Australia and serious drag racing fans. With a circulation of 10,500 and a reader rate of over 15,000 racers and serious fans, the Drag Race School and its sponsors have received excellent promotional value.

Thank you for helping make the drag racing demonstration at the 1998 Honda Indycarnival the most successful on record for the Gold Coast event. The event ran extremely smoothly due largely to the efforts and co-operation of the drivers, riders, crews and officials involved. Official figures released by the Gold Coast Indycar board listed the Friday crowd as a best ever 48,812.

As evidenced by the standing room only crowd packing every vantage point around pit straight it's obvious a very large proportion of this number stayed on into the evening for the drags. The live, closed circuit television coverage onto the big screens was also a big hit in a number of the corporate areas with guests remaining in their suites to enjoy the show. Both Channel 10 and Newspaper print articles favoured the demonstration.

Every racer entered into the spirit of the occasion and did their utmost to put on the best show possible on the predictably marginal track surface. The sport of drag racing certainly did itself proud and no doubt impressed those in the stands, in the corporate areas and on the hundreds of unit balconies overlooking the track.

When you are on the way to a race, the LAST thing you want to do is to have to work on the trailer. How many times have you seen a race car trailer on the side of the road with a broken spring ?
