The articles are arranged in chronological order -- from the oldest to the
newest. This was done because some of the articles are in the form of a series
and should be read in sequence to gain the most understanding from them. The
articles can be broken into five major groups as follows:
- OLD IDEAS
Articles by a variety of authors, from 1986 to 1993. Some of the ideas are
rather outdated and by today's standards could be considered almost naive.
They are useful, however, if for no other reason than to see how far we've
come in the field of " Motorsport Marketing ".
- GET SPONSORED
A series of 33 articles appearing in National DRAGSTER from March
1993 to July 1994. Written by Thomas Amshay and Christina Clement
of RFTS, they took the form of a series of questions and answers about
motorsport marketing. The column was a follow-up to their two very successful
books; Get Ready, Get Set, Get Sponsored and Turning Horsepower into
Marketing Power. They substantially raised the level of marketing knowledge
for NHRA racers and set the standard for motorsport marketing thinking.
- SPONSORSHIP and MARKETING
A series of 32 articles appearing in National DRAGSTER from July 1994
to December 1995. Written by Ernie Saxton, publisher of "Motorsports
Sponsorship Marketing News", the series immediately followed that of
Amshay and Clement. Although Ernie came across as having more of a stock-car
background, the ideas were applicable to drag racing and explored some different
areas than the preceding series.
- SPONSORSHIP 101 - 2000
The latest thoughts about motorsport marketing as we near the new millenium.
A series of 12 articles written by Thomas Amshay and published in
National Dragster throughout 1997. They show where motorsport marketing
is currently and is heading in the future, along with some very useful ideas
to radically change racers' thinking about the whole concept of sponsorship
and marketing. Also includes an introduction to RFTS's latest product,
a pre-packaged direct-mail sponsorship campaign for racers, titled The
System.
- NEW IDEAS
Articles by a variety of authors, from 1994 to the present. Keep checking this
section for new additions on a regular basis. Since the "art" of marketing
keeps changing rapidly, we'll attempt to keep you up-to-date with the very
latest news and views on the subject.
