Subject:   Willowbank "Drag Racing" Ratings Winner
Date:       Tuesday, September 11
From:      Rob Oberg

Willowbank Raceway's "Drag Racing" television program finished it's current season with continued strong ratings performances. The final two broadcasts for the year on Channel Seven in Brisbane saw "Drag Racing" convincingly win it's time slots head to head with Nine's heavily promoted coverage of the Nutri Grain Cup Surf Series and Ten's Motorsport flagship RPM.

Coverage of the Winter's Smash Repairs Track Championships Grand Finals broadcast on August 12th set the pattern with a dominant performance over the opposition.

After a successful showing on Foxsports last year, "Drag Racing"s coverage of the Annual Fast Fours & Rotaries Jamboree was broadcast for the first time free to air by Channel Seven Queensland-wide on August 19th and also proved to be a very clear winner.

"Drag Racing" producer Rob Oberg said he was extremely pleased with the result. "These are very strong performances by our show in Brisbane. We produce our program on a very tight budget and to knock off big dollar network productions is just fantastic. With coverage of the Konica Winternationals, Winters Smash Repairs Grand Finals and the Jamboree, we put five episodes of the show to air through the July - August period.

"The ratings just got stronger and stronger as we went. We've worked hard to get the content of the show to appeal to a wider audience than just the drag racing diehards. I think we've found the right balance of race coverage, feature stories and interviews and the viewing public are showing their support for the format by tuning in.

"We don't have the numbers for the rest of Queensland yet, but the trend normally carries over, so the total audience will be extremely strong. It certainly shows that interest in drag racing is showing no signs of decline in our market. It's very good news for sponsors of both the raceway and our racers when the audience is so strong."

All epsiodes of Willowbank Raceway's "Drag Racing" program are also broadcast nationally via satellite and cable by Foxsports.

Subject:   Weekend Coverage.... or not
Date:       Monday, September 10
From:      Phil & Gary Cottingham

Due to the brains of the operation (Gary) going off to university at the beginning of next week, unfortunately we will not have the time nor resources (computer will be boxed up and ready to go) to publish and end day reports at the FIA European Finals (Santa Pod). We will however still take a few photos and collect some notes ready to post when things have settled down (in about a week or two probably).

Also, we have just published our first international feature on the site. Our Australian correspondent, Kevin Kinna, has kindly sent us some photos and the results from the Konica Winternationals. This feature can be reached from the Dragster World news page. There has been much interesting debate regarding the nitro funny cars at the moment. Check out the items on the news page and forum about this.

Cheers.
